Yellow and Pink!
This chap just could not understand why I'd be so interested in him which made him even more extraordinary to me...
Lately I've been thinking a lot about what makes us "like" something and dislike others...Is it merely a matter of taste or the cultural influence of our peers, the media, or our aspirations? Or is it perhaps that our senses are triggered by an earlier memory so embedded in our brains that we are no longer able to pinpoint that formative experience, be it a building that we connected with, a bunch of flowers we spotted at a Vienna basement window, or the colour of our mother's petticoat, which all form a value system that becomes a guide to help us make instantaneous decisions later on in life.
So, the scarf and the trousers made me think today, why indeed do I like this unusual combination? After much brain racking, an image flickered back into memory. Maurizio Nichetti. Ratataplan. A favorite director and film of my childhood. One of the supporting characters amongst the cavalcade of funny men was a young woman with a penchant for fuchsia overalls and yellow T-shirts. Now I don't remember much else from this movie but somehow that outfit captured my imagination and hence my passion for primary colours!...Or is it that simple?
Anyway, let us enjoy a bit of colour amongst our bankers' dull greys and pinstripes

My Favourite Icelandic Couple
Here we go again. Hugrun (red lipstick) and Magni (beard) never fail to impress with their colour sense and combination of patterns/textures. Not only are they super stylish but probably the nicest people I had the good fortune of meeting amongst the otherwise air-kissing mob of facionistas.
They are the proprietor/designers behind the Kron by KronKron label, a Reykjavik shoestore/ shoredesign outfit.
Here's their website:

The Icelandic Design Power Couple
Insanely stylish couple from Iceland. I've seen them on other blogs and witnessed their popularity with snappers this week - everybody seems to be after them and rightly so.
They strictly deny picking their respective outfits in the morning to match each other's...har har

London, My Neighbours Klaus and Julie
I'd been dispairing at the lack of "talent" on the market that day when this blur of colours rolls by me. Not recognising them at first, I was relieved to see it was my homeboy Klaus and his lovely lady Julie in their sunday best splendour. And to think I had to travel this far just to see these two from across the street!...
Been a fan of his choice of threads for years. For a straight man to be this bold with colours, I can only admire and congratulate the fellow!
(You might wanna be more careful with your choice of plastic bags in the future, matey! Chartreuse, perhaps?!...Har har)

London Brick Lane
Clash of patterns and colours. It is so wrong it is absolutely right!!! Love it!
Oh, hello! Isn't this our fellow from yesterday! And just getting cooler and cooler. Style Icon in the making, do I hear you say?! Everything works here perfectly. Red and yellow together (my latest fascination), the green trainers with yellow laces. Ok, so it's a blasted fixed-gear bike - all the Shoreditch trendy wannabees' transport of choice - but this is quite something as a piece of product design, and the blue compliments his colours. Way to go!
